The Circuit Group, a music company founded by music industry veterans from artist management firms Seven20 and AYITA, has partnered with dance music company Defected Records to bolster their North American and UK expansions.
Under the terms of the agreement, Circuit will offer its services to Defected to help the latter establish its presence in North America. In turn, Defected will support Circuit’s expansion to the UK, Europe and other global markets.
Defected will provide various services to support Circuit’s record labels, publishing business, branded events, and agency expansion. Circuit will then offer Defected a range of services in North America, including event and technology expertise, IP monetization, brand building, and artist development consultation.
The pair of companies will focus on forging new partnerships around artists’ intellectual property, according to a joint press release on Tuesday (October 24).
The Circuit Group was launched less than three weeks ago by Dean and Jessica Wilson of Seven20, and Brett Fischer, David Gray, and Harvey Tadman of AYITA. Dean Wilson is a longtime manager of Canadian music producer and DJ, deadmau5.
In addition to conventional artist management, Circuit says it also aims to work with artists to forge opportunities in various verticals within the music industry.
The company says its mission is to create business verticals spanning recorded music, publishing, merchandise, brand partnerships, gaming, events, Web3 technologies, and music innovations.
Meanwhile, Defected Records, an independent British label founded by Simon Dunmore in 1999, was acquired by its CEO, Wez Saunders, last year. The company’s repertoire includes artists like Jamie Jones, John Summit, Hannah Wants, Masters at Work, CamelPhat, MK, Purple Disco Machine, Riva Starr, and more.
Its roster and labels include D4 D4NCE, DFTD, Glitterbox, Big Love, Soulfuric, Nu Groove, Classic, 4 To The Floor, DVINE Sounds, Stay True Sounds, and The Remedy Project.
Defected, which has an online community of over 12 million, says it has evolved into a “New Era Music Company” through its innovations and digital activations.
“Circuit and Defected are creating a partnership that helps artists build longer lasting, higher impact, more profitable careers across their labels, publishing, events and brand ventures.”

“Defected Records is without a doubt one of the most respected label brands in the world,” said The Circuit Group co-founder and CEO Dean Wilson.
“Working closely with the label head Wez Saunders and his team will be invaluable to us as we continue to establish our new vision across the music landscape. Circuit and Defected are creating a partnership that helps artists build longer lasting, higher impact, more profitable careers across their labels, publishing, events and brand ventures. We’re looking forward to supporting Defected’s further expansion into the North American market.”
Wez Saunders, CEO and Owner of Defected Records, added: “My strategy for Defected is to build a model for the future of the music business, and we see that in what Dean and his team are doing too.”
“In combining our teams of world-class specialists, I hope to demonstrate how alliance at this level can ultimately mean longer, more profitable careers for our artists across the board.”
