ByteDance-owned video sharing app TikTok was the most downloaded non-game app worldwide last month.
The app was installed more than 104.7 million times in January, which represented a 46% increase from January 2019, according to new figures published by intelligence firm Sensor Tower.
The news follows TikTok’s recently announced multi-territory licensing deal signed with Merlin, the global digital rights agency for the world’s independent label sector.
Sensor Tower also reports that the countries where TikTok was installed the most last month were India, which accounted for 34.4% of its total downloads and Brazil at 10.4%.
TikTok was followed by Facebook-owned WhatsApp, with close to 90.6m installs – a 10% increase from January 2019.
