TuneCore, an independent digital music distribution platform owned by Believe, has announced the launch of its Release Tracker feature, available to all artists on a paid TuneCore Unlimited plan.
The new tool provides artists and labels with real-time insights into the progress of their music releases, from the moment they submit their tracks to the moment they hit the shelves of popular stores and streaming platforms.
The Release Tracker offers a visual timeline that tracks the progress of each music release. Artists and labels can now see the exact stage their release is in, whether it’s been submitted, is under review, has been approved, or has been delivered to stores and streaming services.
The feature provides real-time updates on the status of the release, notifying users when it’s submitted, processed, approved, and sent to various platforms. Additionally, the Release Tracker provides any necessary updates if additional actions are required during the distribution process.
“we have developed a tool that not only gives our artists information about their releases, but also supplies them with shareable promotional materials.”

The Release Tracker goes beyond simply informing artists; it also allows them to share their journey with their fans. Upon reaching the “sent to stores” stage, the tracker automatically generates a customizable visual featuring the artist’s name, release title, artwork, and release status.
Artists can then personalize this visual with an audio snippet and even a moving background before sharing it on their social media platforms. This allows them to build anticipation and excitement around their upcoming release.
“As part of TuneCore’s goal to demystify the music business and provide artists with greater visibility into the distribution process, we have developed a tool that not only gives our artists information about their releases, but also supplies them with shareable promotional materials,” said Andreea Gleeson, Chief Executive Officer, TuneCore.
“TuneCore artists wear so many hats as entrepreneurs building their own careers, and the TuneCore Release Tracker seeks to make artists’ lives easier and help them reach more fans.”

Artists can view their Release Tracker by going to their discography page and clicking the colorful status bubble with the arrow, explained TuneCore. The company also noted that existing releases will have a tracker, in addition to new releases.
The launch of the Release Tracker comes over a month after the company revealed that more than 80,000 independent artists are enrolled in its TuneCore Accelerator marketing programs across multiple DSPs. The program covers four development plans (Start, Amplify, Break, Maximize), which TuneCore says are “customized to serve artists at different stages of their careers”.
Last month, TuneCore partnered with Amazon Music UK to provide 12 independent artists with free studio time at Metropolis Studios, one of Europe’s top recording facilities.
