Believe-owned DIY distribution service TuneCore has expanded its suite of music publishing services for independent songwriters in over 200 countries.

TuneCore first began offering publishing administration services in 2012 and says that it has since paid out more than $125 million in publishing revenue to independent songwriters.

It also says it has sent out 97 million song registration records, 11 million in 2023 alone, along with over 1 billion lines of royalties.

TuneCore reports that more than 87% of its publishing revenue has been collected since the company first partnered with Sentric Music Group in 2018.

TuneCore renewed its partnership with Sentric in January last year.

TuneCore artists are able to submit unlimited songs for a one-time $75 set-up fee and a 15% commission

TuneCore’s newly expanded music publishing services allow songwriters to collect royalties from multiple artist collaborations under the same account, and register an unlimited number of songs worldwide.

The service also provides “extensive” personalized royalty analytics highlighting which songs, territories, and sources have yielded the highest impact for songwriters, and offers integration with artist pages on Spotify where songwriters can register songs they have distributed.

TuneCore says that it has also “significantly” enhanced the TuneCore Publishing interface, to give “songwriters the ability to submit multiple recordings of their compositions directly from their dashboard, improving user experience, and allowing songwriters to more easily maximize their publishing earnings”.

TuneCore adds that its Publishing service offers “faster royalty payments” through direct memberships with pay sources and PROs in more than 240 territories worldwide, and claims to represent “more than any other company in its category”.

“TuneCore Publishing now offers songwriters even more flexibility and control over their publishing revenue while also providing key analytical insights to help our songwriters grow their careers.”

“By expanding our services and enhancing our interface, we are proud to offer self-releasing artists the most comprehensive suite of music publishing services that will put more money in their pockets — more quickly — wherever in the world it is earned.

In December 2022, TuneCore revealed that it had paid out $3 billion in royalties to artists since the company was founded in 2006.

That payout figure marked a $500 million increase versus the previous payout update provided by the company, which was $2.5 billion, in April 2022. Music Business Worldwide
