Live music shows will be introduced to county cricket audiences this summer across the UK, promoted by Music + Sport – the London based company behind the successful Jockey Club Live venture.
Jockey Club Live promotes major music events at racecourses around the UK in association with The Jockey Club. Under the banner of ‘An Evening At The Races’ over 300,000 people attended the company’s ‘horseracing-plus’ music events in 2014.
The first Cricket Live event will see Music + Sport partner with the Ageas Bowl, home of Hampshire Cricket, to stage a show from Boyzone.
Taking place on August 1st, the ticket price for this 18,000 capacity event will include entry to a First Class one-day cricket match between Hampshire and Middlesex during the day followed by a live concert from Boyzone in the evening.
This event will also take place in conjunction with The Ageas Family Festival, which offers a range of family-orientated sporting and entertainment activities during the day.
“Cricket live is the first step in our ambitious plans to engage with the sport.”
Andrew Wilkinson, Music + Sport
Andrew Wilkinson, CEO of Music + Sport said, “Following the ongoing success of our ‘Jockey Club Live’ division, which we launched in 2014 and which goes from strength to strength, we believe that we have created a strong template that will allow us to combine major music events with other sports.
“Our new partnership with the Ageas Bowl, which will see Music+ Sport launch ‘Cricket Live,’ is the first step in our ambitious plans to engage with the sport.”
David Mann, CEO of Hampshire Cricket said, “The Ageas Bowl has been designed specifically to host a range of entertainment formats in addition to world-class cricket. We have a history of staging some great concerts and are now delighted to have partnered with Music + Sport to build on this. We pride ourselves on innovation and Cricket Live is another exciting first which we are confident will prove a huge hit with sport and music fans right across the South Coast.”
