Underground new music company FLOOR SIXX has launched in the UK and signed a sponsorship deal with Bucks Music Group for its publishing arm.
The company is founded by BBC Radio 1Xtra DJ and former Atlantic Records exec Sian Anderson and Jason Black, who DJs under the name J2K.
FLOOR SIXX aims to celebrate the best underground music across a range of genres by releasing one single and accompanying video a month on its own channels across Deezer (an early supporter of the venture), VEVO, iTunes and Spotify.
Grime and afrobeats are the focus points for 2017.
The proceeds of each track will go into the FLOOR SIXX MUSIC ACADEMY — a ten week mentoring programme for artists and aspiring executives in association with Louder Than Words, Platform and Red Bull Music.
Under the sponsorship deal, Bucks Music Group will take care of worldwide administration, business affairs, sync and licensing for FLOOR SIXX Music Publishing, as well as publishing all tracks on an upcoming compilation.
It will also fund signings, the first of which is an exclusive publishing deal with London MC Capo Lee.
Within the last year, the Tottenham-raised artist has had support from DJ’s across BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, Kiss and Capital Xtra, as well as features in the likes of Interview Magazine, Wonderland Magazine and Complex UK.
His latest single ‘Gyal From Brum’ was chosen as DJ Target’s Record of the Week on 1Xtra, and garnered over 100,000 views on SBTV in its first week.
Discussing her new venture, Anderson said: “Super excited to be teaming up with Bucks on FLOOR SIXX Music Publishing.
“For years I’ve known Harri and Sarah at Bucks to be real lovers of music of all genres and key figures in regards to nurturing artists as well as delivering successfully as publishers.”
