Reshuffle at UMG’s Caroline as Harvest bosses take over

Piero Giramonti and Jacqueline Saturn have been named General Managers of Caroline – the Independent Services division of Capitol Music Group (CMG) in the US.

The news comes four months after reports emerged that Caroline President Dominic Pandiscia was to leave the UMG-owned organisation.

Giramonti and Saturn (pictured) add Caroline to their existing responsibilities as General Managers for CMG’s Harvest Records.

They will be charged with overseeing all aspects of the division, including its relocation from New York to Hollywood’s Capitol Tower where it will be the only major Independent Distribution and Label Services entity on the west coast.

Caroline’s full organisational structure will be announced shortly, but changes within the division will not affect London-based Caroline International which is managed separately by Michael Roe and Jim Chancellor in London.

Caroline will continue to operate under the purview of CMG’s Chief Operating Officer Michelle Jubelirer and Executive Vice President Scott Greer.

CMG Chairman and CEO Steve Barnett said: “Piero and Jacqueline have utilized a true independent label spirit and approach to putting Harvest back on the map through the success of artists and projects such as Banks, Glass Animals, The New Basement Tapes, Best Coast and Matt & Kim, among many others.

“They are perfectly positioned to bring their considerable expertise and boundless energy to Caroline’s partners and staff while continuing the impressive growth of Harvest and its artists.”

Giramonti said of the pair’s promotion: “We are very excited to be heading Caroline and bringing the division to CMG headquarters, where there will be a significant increase in the operational investment in promotion and marketing for the division.”

Saturn added, “We run Harvest with an independent mindset that has been crucial to the long-term support, development and success of our artists, and we will be bringing that exact approach – and the ability to draw upon the Tower’s significant resources – to Caroline’s partner artists and labels.”

Caroline offers services to independent artists and labels including Marketing, Promotion, Commercial Services, Branding, Synch & Licensing, Lifestyle Marketing, Business Affairs and Finance.

Caroline had a hand in four No.1 album debuts on Billboard’s Top Albums chart this year – including those for Alabama Shakes’ Sound & Color and All Time Low’s Future Hearts – as well as making significant breakthroughs with Astralwerks’ Halsey and Harvest’s Glass Animals.Music Business Worldwide
