Caroline, Universal’s US-based services partner to independent labels and artists, has joined the Artist Growth Accel Network: a platform which presents tour history and real-world data to help decipher which unsigned acts have the biggest potential.
Caroline’s associated labels can now discover, evaluate and potentially sign artists based on self-reported data from the road, including sales of CDs, merchandise and tickets.
(UMG’s Caroline International, run by Michael Roe and Jim Chancellor out of the UK, covers non-US markets.)
In order to be able to upload their data to be seen by Caroline’s team, artists must $14.99 per month to join the Artist Growth Premium tier.
These subscribers are also offered their own business management features include tour merchandise tracking, live performance royalty submissions, advanced scheduling, cloud file storage, revenue and expense reporting, and custom data exports.
“Independent artists today are entrepreneurs running startup businesses,” says Matt Urmy, founder/CEO of Artist Growth.
“They are up against a tidal wave of digital noise, and just because an artist might not be an expert at using Twitter, they shouldn’t be at a disadvantage.

“The AG Accel Network helps artists by using hard data to more accurately quantify all of their hard work, and offers a way to get those numbers in front of interested industry partners.”
Dominic Pandiscia (pictured), President of Caroline, said, “Caroline is at the epicenter of the independent music scene and culture, and Artist Growth presents a new opportunity and point of entry for independent artists looking for exposure. We look forward to working with Matt and his team on helping to nurture artists within the Artist Growth environment.”
“Artist Growth is the music business in a box,” said Joe Galante, an Artist Growth investor, board member and former chairman of Sony Music Nashville.
“It’s all there, and how you utilize the tools provided here can make or break you.”
In the US, Caroline is part of Capitol Records Group, a subsidiary of Universal Music Group.
Caroline’s North American partners include ATO Records, Dine Alone Records, Hopeless Records, Slash, Tyrese, Raekwon, Prospect Park and Alter Bridge.Music Business Worldwide
