Warner Music partners with STYNGR on ad-free radio for Roblox

Following the launch of “Boombox” with Universal Music Group earlier this year, STYNGR, a music-in-gaming platform, has teamed up with Warner Music Group to offer ad-free radio stations directly within Roblox.

The new offering, called “Batteries,” functions as a purchasable in-game item that powers STYNGR’s Boombox product.

Boombox, a partnership between STYNGR, Universal Music Group, and Republic Records, functions as an ad-supported music player embedded within Roblox, allowing labels to launch and integrate playlists into the gaming experience.

Now, STYNGR is offering two Battery options via its partnership with Warner Music Group: Single Listening Batteries that offer weekly-refreshed radio stations for solo enjoyment; and Party Batteries that provide the same functionality but allow social listening experiences for up to four players within a game.

Warner Music and STYNGR, in a press release on Monday (June 17), said the partnership creates new revenue streams for artists and songwriters, allowing them to connect with new audiences and engage existing fans on the popular gaming platform.

Additionally, Roblox developers gain access to more monetization tools through their share of Battery sales. STYNGR’s data suggests that music integration can also enhance user experience by increasing playtime, player engagement, and overall retention.

“Music and gaming make for a natural partnership, and we’re excited to work with STYNGR to introduce new music products to fans inside of Roblox.”

Allan Coye, Warner Music Group

“We’re always looking for ways to expand the reach of music and unlock new opportunities for artists and songwriters. Music and gaming make for a natural partnership, and we’re excited to work with STYNGR to introduce new music products to fans inside of Roblox,” said Allan Coye, EVP, Global Head of Recorded Music Business Development at WMG.

This partnership expands on an existing collaboration between STYNGR and Warner Music, established in March 2022. At the time, STYNGR provided game developers with access to pre-licensed tracks from Warner Music’s catalog, enabling functionalities like customized radio stations and music-based character enhancements.

Batteries are launching across an extensive network, including Super League and popular Roblox experiences like Paradise RP, oMega Obby, and Miraculous LadyBug.

“Our collaboration with Warner Music Group and Roblox combines our strengths to introduce something truly innovative to millions of gamers and music fans worldwide.”

Alex Tarrand, STYNGR

Alex Tarrand, COO of STYNGR, added: “STYNGR is the portal for bringing music and gaming together and is at the forefront of transforming how music is experienced across the gaming sector. Our collaboration with Warner Music Group and Roblox combines our strengths to introduce something truly innovative to millions of gamers and music fans worldwide.”

This latest development comes after the launch of Boombox in March 2024, a partnership between STYNGR, Universal Music Group, and Republic Records. Boombox functions as an ad-supported music player embedded within Roblox, allowing labels to launch and integrate playlists into the gaming experience.

STYNGR operates as a bridge between the music and gaming industries, offering pre-cleared music for game developers. In addition to Warner Music and Universal Music, the company also has partnerships with Capitol Music Group subsidiary Motown Records, and pan-European licensing hub ICE Services.
